Toronto Shelter, Housing and Support takes steps to assist people
evicted from the Home Depot site

TORONTO - In response to the sudden eviction of the people staying on the
Home Depot site today, Toronto Shelter, Housing and Support has taken the
following steps:
The division has enacted the Critical Incident Response protocol, which
will include making emergency accommodations available for tonight and
tomorrow night at the following location:
WoodGreen Community Centre 835 Queen Street East (Queen and
Broadview)
- can accommodate up to 40 people
- emergency food and other services will also be available.
The division has activated its extreme weather emergency system, which
includes opening space in the existing shelter system to accommodate a
further 70 people.
A limited number of spaces in motels will be provided on a case by case
basis.
Anyone evicted from the site is encouraged to go to WoodGreen Community
Centre or call 416-275-3063. City staff and staff from various community
agencies will be on-site to provide assistance.
